PWRDF & CFGB Growing Project
Our parish had the 1st Growing Project in New Brunswick history!!
We were able to share food with others in the community and raise well over $1,000 (including Canadian government contributions). The project we are supporting is located in southern India and involves Tamil refugees.
Through our Growing Project, we have been involved in what is also a 1st for the national church. The following was published in the latest edition of Fieldnotes
India – Primate’s World Relief & Development Fund (PWRDF - Anglican Church) is supporting a $123,000 nutrition program among 20,000 Sri Lankan Tamil refugees living in camps in Tamil Nadu, India. The program is designed to reduce chronic malnutrition among the refugees by providing nutrition related education, distributing nutritional supplements, providing Vitamin A to children, running community canteens with nutritious and affordable meals, promoting home gardens and community vegetable shops, and promoting camp based spirulina (vitamin supplement) production. This project is being implemented by the Organization for Eelam Refugees Rehabilitation. This is PWRDF’s first project with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.
